Wedding on Mainau Island with boat tour on Lake Constance

Then, in mid-2020, the time had come. One of our few weddings in this special year. 

We left in the morning from our home in Meersburg to Hotel Halm in Konstanz. There the two got ready for this special day. After getting ready at Hotel Halm, they went straight to Mainau Island. 

The civil wedding took place there in the castle. Because of renovations, we were in the library and not in the usual wedding room. If you would also like to have your civil wedding on the island, be sure to find out about the possibilities. It is really something special! Very different from a town hall in the middle of a city. 

After the ceremony, we enjoyed the next few hours on Mainau Island among the plants and took many beautiful photos. You can see some of them below. 🙂

Towards evening, in time for dinner, we took a boat from Schifffahrtsbetrieb Held for a round trip in the Obersee. From the island of Mainau we went past the Teufelstisch, to Bodman, Sipplingen, past Überlingen and Meersburg and then back to the Mainau island. 

On the ship we experienced many beautiful moments during the four hours, a colorful sunset, a delicious dinner and a wedding dance. 

In the unique year 2020, this wedding was very special! It made us realize again that especially weddings in a small circle are much more emotional than big celebrations and pompous weddings.
